Installation Instructions

Windows:

  • After downloading, double click the exe file.

Mac OS X:

  • After downloading, double click the DMG file.
  • In the Finder window that appears double-click the installer application.

Linux/Solaris:

  • After downloading open a shell and cd to the directory where you downloaded the installer.
  • Give the current user execute permissions to the installer with: chmod 700 setup_ss_enterprise.sh
  • If you are installing in an environment that is running Xwindows, type: ./setup_ss_enterprise.sh. If your environment is GUI-less, type: ./setup_ss_enterprise.sh -c.

Generic Unix:

  • After downloading open a shell and cd to the directory where you downloaded the install file.
  • Decompress the setup_ss_enterprise_unix.tar.gz file into a folder, then copy that folder to the location where you'd like screen-scraper installed.
  • Inside screen-scraper's resource/conf folder there will be a file named screen-scraper.properties-enterprise. Rename the file to screen-scraper.properties.
  • Edit the screen-scraper.properties file and locate the InstallDirectory property. Give that property the location where you copied the folder in step 2 (e.g., /opt/screen-scraper_enterprise/).
  • If you don't already have it, install a Java Runtime Environment compatible with your environment.
  • If at this point the java executable is in your path environment variable you can likely launch screen-scraper using either the screen-scraper (for workbench) or server executable files. If that fails see this FAQ for instructions on setting the location of the JRE manually.

Upgrading

  • Simply select "Check For Updates" from the "Options" menu. If an upgrade is available screen-scraper will download and install it automatically.
  • For instructions on how to upgrade to unstable versions of screen-scraper, please go here in our FAQ.
